We will be in an absolutely wonderful guesthouse, bright clean rooms all have stunning views of holy Arunchala mountain and some have their own kitchenette and air con. 3 hours taxi ride from Chennai international airport we are truly in the heart of south India. The yoga space on the roof is one of the most deeply restful and uplifting places I have ever practised. The food will be healthy fruity juicy with and Indian traditional dinners made by the superstar chef Edwin with produce mostly from the local villages.
This is not a luxury retreat centre.... we'll be on the edge of a holy, busy pilgrimage town with all the vibrance, people, markets, animals, ceremonies, smells, sights and life of India. Although our guesthouse is on a peaceful edge of Tiruvannamalai, with paddy fields and village life, please be aware that this is not a contained retreat centre. India life will encroach, infiltrate and enrich every part of the week we spend here together.
We will hold our first session on the Thursday evening 21st Febuary at 5pm when we arrive followed by dinner. We will then take one morning off to visit the Temple early. We will close our time together on Thursday the 28th after a practice and brunch.
I have room for 11 people in either one of the 3 large airy doubles, the triple room or one of the 2 smaller sweet single rooms, all en suite.
Tiruvannamalai is a 3 hour taxi ride from Chennai airport costing about £35 each way for a taxi (which can be organised through me and will be sent from the guesthouse to collect you once you know your arrival time. Flights are very affordable this time of year.
If arriving by train there is a station at Tiruvannamalai, there is also a big train hub at Vellore station, about an hour taxi ride north of Tiruvannamalai.
You will be very very well looked after and we visit the great temple, climb the holy mountain, attend puja, visit ashrams and visit a grass roots social movement centre for widowed women and their children.
It will be an adventure and I'm so very excited to share this treasure with you.
We will rest, be nourished, uplifted and expand.
